Introduction

We live in a world that is full of human pride.

Our Pride Problem:

Pride is incredibly deceiving. Basically, pride is wanting to believe that we don't need God, or that we ourselves are God.

We are sinners

  • That simply means that we are self-centered.

We all have indulged ourselves

  • Either in our fleshly passion, or our prideful minds.

We, in ourselves are not good

  • Only God and Jesus are good.
2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.

Romans 5: We were Sinners and
Enemies of God

For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

Truth:
You were a Sinner and Enemy of God.

Do you believe this truth?

Romans 3: We Were All are Under Sin

What then? Are we better than they? Not at all.
For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin.

10 As it is written:

“There is none righteous, no, not one;
11 There is none who understands;
There is none who seeks after God.
12 They have all turned aside;
They have together become unprofitable;
There is none who does good, no, not one.”
13 “Their throat is an open tomb;
With their tongues they have practiced deceit”;
“The poison of asps is under their lips”;
14 “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.”
15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways;
17 And the way of peace they have not known.”
18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

Truth:
You were Under Sin, just like everyone else?

Do you believe this truth?

Ephesians 2: We were by nature children of wrath, just as the others

1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

Truth:
You were dead in your sins, in the lusts of the flesh and mind, and were you by Nature a Child of Wrath.

Do you believe this truth?
