God’s Nature & Man’s Nature
God is Love, but He is also Just. He is forgiving, but He is also a Righteous Judge.
In this world, even wicked people demand that others are brought to Justice.
The Two sides of the True Gospel
God's Part: What He did to Save Us
- Jesus did everything necessary to fulfill God’s righteous Judgment. What He did for us allows God to accept us.
Our Part: What He requires of us.
- If there was nothing that we had to do, then everyone would be automatically saved.
- But there are things that God requires of us.
The following passages reveal what God requires from us.
2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.
John 3: You Must be Born Again
1 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”
3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’The Truth:
You Must Born Again to enter, or even see the
Kingdom of God?
Romans 10: You Must Confess with Your Mouth and Believe in Your Heart
8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach):
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. The Truth:
If Confess with your Mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your Heart that God Raised Him from the Dead, that you will to be Saved?
Hebrews 11: Without faith it is
impossible to please God
6 "But without faith it is impossible to please Him.
For he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."The Truth:
Without Faith, it is Impossible to Please God. To come to God, you must believe that He exists and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently see Him!
Acts 3: You Must Repent and be Converted
19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord. The Truth:
You must Repent and be converted so that your sins
may be blotted out?
Acts 2: Repent and be Baptized
36 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”
37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what must we do?”
38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.”
41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. The Truth:
You must Repent and be Baptized for the Remission
of your sins?
Hebrews 12: As Jesus Endured Chastening, We Must Endure
3 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. 4 You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin.
5 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons:
“My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord,
Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him;
6 For whom the Lord loves He chastens,
And scourges every son whom He receives.”
7 If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten?
8 But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons.
9 Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? 10 For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness.
11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.The Truth:
You must accept the Chastening (discipline and correction)
of the Lord?
Hebrews 12: Without Holiness which No one Will See the Lord
12 Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, 13 and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.
14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:
15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;
16 lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright.
17 For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears. The Truth:
You must Pursue Holiness to See the Lord?
